NVIDIA Event in Singapore Highlights Regional AI Progress

NVIDIA held AI Day Singapore on Sept. 22-23 at the Raffles City Convention Centre, with training sessions and partner demonstrations. The company and its partners presented efforts to move public-sector AI in Southeast Asia from trials to production. Singapore's HTX is researching use of Nemotron models for public safety, while NCS is applying agentic AI and video search tools.
The Singapore gathering combined practical instruction, specialist talks and demonstrations of advanced computing tools. Alongside the main sessions, partners highlighted regional projects spanning government services, public safety, business productivity and smart-city systems.
Examples included Singapore's HTX studying Nemotron variants for safety-related reasoning and multimodal applications, NCS working on agentic and video-search systems, and ST Engineering building an AI platform with NeMo and cuOpt. Elsewhere, YTL AI Labs, Viettel AI, ThaiLLM collaborators, Brunei's Antrique, ITMAX and AS-TECH pursued localized models, legal assistance, food-sector productivity and traffic or airport flow improvements.
As public-sector AI moves beyond testing into wider deployment, citizens in Southeast Asia could see faster, more localized services, while agencies and firms may gain tools for safety, traffic and language tasks. Developers and startups might benefit from open models and partner ecosystems, though reliance on external platforms and data governance may shape trust. Workers in affected services could face changing roles, making training and oversight important. The overall impact may depend on how carefully deployments are governed and evaluated.
