Five Google Wallet upgrades that stood out in 2026

Google Wallet received a major interface overhaul and several new capabilities during 2026. Users can now track online orders and packages inside the app when Gmail package tracking is enabled. The app also became the first digital wallet accepted for TSA PreCheck Touchless ID at dozens of U.S. airports.
In 2026, Google Wallet gained a redesigned home screen and new tools. With Gmail package tracking enabled, users can see receipts, tracking numbers, and delivery status in the app. A TSA partnership made Wallet the first digital wallet accepted for PreCheck Touchless ID at 65 U.S. airports, where a camera compares a traveler’s live image with a stored digital ID.
An August allowance feature lets adults send money to a child’s account regularly or as needed; the child can tap to pay, but funds cannot be used online. Digital driver’s licenses or IDs work in 11 states, with more planned by spring 2027, and a September update added NFC transit-card transfers.
These changes could make everyday tasks faster for travelers, parents, transit riders, and people in participating states, while reducing reliance on physical cards and IDs. By combining payments, identity, and tracking in one app, Google Wallet may shift expectations for digital wallets and increase pressure on competitors. At the same time, users may weigh convenience against concerns about data storage and device dependence, especially when IDs or allowances are involved.
