Google Beam reaches more countries and adds Industrious partnership

Google Beam is now available in six countries through 18 channel partners, with HP providing new hardware. The company says internal trials indicate the system strengthens team bonds and reduces additional meetings. Starting in October, people can reserve Beam units at selected Industrious locations to test them for professional meetings.
Google Beam’s latest rollout covers the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Japan. Eighteen channel partners will handle deployment and support, while HP supplies the hardware as HP Dimension with Google Beam. The system works with Google Meet and Zoom.
In an eight-week internal Google trial, participants reported stronger feelings of connection, clearer feedback, and fewer follow-up meetings. Netflix and Bain are cited as users for remote interviews. Starting in October, people may book Beam setups at certain Industrious workspaces to trial them for work meetings.
If Beam-style systems spread, they may change how remote and hybrid teams, recruiters, and interviewees experience distance collaboration. Clearer nonverbal cues could make virtual conversations feel more natural, potentially improving trust and reducing misunderstandings. Yet access may depend on employers or shared workspaces that can afford specialized hardware, so benefits could reach some workers unevenly. The Industrious trial may also normalize testing such tools in coworking settings, shaping expectations around presence and meeting efficiency.
