Boox updates Note Air tablet with faster processor and Android 16

Boox has announced the Note Air 6C, an updated version of its E Ink tablet with a faster processor that improves PDF page-turning speed by 40 percent. The device runs Android 16 and includes a 10.3-inch color display, a four-microphone array, and a fingerprint sensor. It is available now for $580, with a keyboard bundle priced at $690.
The Note Air 6C’s processor upgrade to 2.9GHz marks a 45 percent speed gain over its predecessor, directly improving PDF page turns by 40 percent. Boox also refined its refresh mode to smooth scrolling and dynamic apps, addressing a common E Ink weakness. The device retains 6GB RAM and 64GB storage, with a microSD slot for expansion, while adding a four-microphone array and fingerprint sensor. Priced at $580, it costs $50 more than the Air 5C, with a keyboard bundle at $690 (launch discount to $657). The company positions this as an iterative refresh, building on the Air4 C’s recognition among best E Ink tablets.
This upgrade may appeal to professionals and students who rely on E Ink for long-form reading and note-taking, offering faster navigation without sacrificing eye comfort. The price increase could limit adoption among casual users, but Android 16 and Play Store access broaden its utility beyond ereading, potentially competing with conventional tablets. As E Ink devices gain speed, they may become more viable for everyday productivity, though battery life and color limitations remain trade-offs.
