Reality Hacking through Green Screening

by admin on February 18, 2010

Compositing has come a long way baby. Cory Doctorow made a quick observation that “Chromakey is everywhere” when he posted a blurb on BoingBoing today. A quick reel is embedded, which you should go watch, I’d post it here but credit where credit is due and all that.

I love that green screening has grown up so big and has moved out of the stage configuration. Now, as long as you don’t have anything green [with a greenscreen] or blue [with a blue screen], you can stick pretty much whatever you want, anywhere you want it.

At some point, a polyscreen will have to be made so that all colors can be used without sacrifice. Avatar would have been wrecked if it was a blue screen. Star Trek would have been ruined if it was a green screen, you know, because of all the aliens. ugh. Nevermind.
